The Lakes Festival of Lights began in 2001 in the wake of the 9-11 attack.  A small group of Lakes residents decided we needed something to bring our community together for the Holidays.  That first Festival was an overwhelming success, and it showed the need for an annual community event in The Lakes area.

From it's humble beginnings in 2001, the Festival has grown rapidly.  Hundreds of local residents have volunteered to put on the event.  Funding has been provided by government grants, corporate sponsorships and community fundraisers.  All kinds of activities and attractions have been added.  It brings out thousands of family residents for a day of food, fun and entertainment.
